idle(prattle): black & blue

I am in the middle of planning my wedding and have hit a roadblock. Surprisingly, it is from the guys. My bridesmaids' dresses are navy, almost a midnight blue. We have also decided that the guys are going to wear black suits. Now because I am letting them wear their own suits, I get to pick the shirt that they are all going to wear. I want it to be, wait for it...blue.

Before you cringe in horror, trust me they will look good! I had to do some runway & red carpet research to convince these boys that it will work and the tie that we are gifting them will bring it all together. Since I did all this work researching navy and black combos, I've decided to share. I have come to the conclusion that "fashion rules" are meant to be broken because there is always an exception to the rule. However, I think it is funny that some people are only willing to break them if someone goes before them ::sigh:: Plus, since everyone in the wedding party is rocking navy it won't seem like they accidentally put a blue shirt on.

idle(prattle): what is vintage?

I was browsing through eBay's vintage category today and I stumbled upon a couple of items that made me question - "can you really slap the label on anything and call it vintage?"

I saw a "Dior" dress (in quotes because I am not quite sure that it is actually Dior) from 2005 that was billed at being vintage. Really? There was also a BCBG dress from the 90s that was vintage. Hmmm....

I wonder if this has to do with the seller's age or just trying to make their listing sound more appealing? I remember asking my mom for her "vintage" clothes from the 60s and here saying to me that they weren't vintage! As a child of the 90s, I question now if my clothes are now considered vintage? I just think they are old and are buried in my closet at my parents house. Maybe by the time I have children old enough to fit in them, I will be more apt to consider them vintage. I have a purse from the 80s that I consider vintage, but are the 90s up for the title too???

The Paris commercial court placed French luxury label Christian Lacroix in receivership, after the 22-year-old fashion house fell victim to the global recession. The label is blaming this development on "the consequences of the global financial crisis which has sharply hurt the luxury goods industry."  The company was bought in 2005 from French luxury group LVMH by U.S. duty free retailer The Falic Group.
