Dior's new short film - The Lady Noire Affair - starring Marion Cotillard and directed by Olivier Dahan.

It is pretty amazing and I can't wait for the next chapter - Lady Rouge. I feel inspired to create something art deco.

direct(transit): pictures from china

I went to China this past winter/spring as part of a study abroad program as part of my last semester at B-school. I didn't take my computer with me, and honestly time has not been my friend - so I guess that is a good enough reason I didn't update the blog as much these past couple of months. I did bring back over 20lbs of fashion magazines. I needed something to trade for my compter time plus, I think of them as souvenirs. Also, I was really interested in seeing the different retail operations, especially by brands and retailers that operate in the US and UK – retail research. Here are a couple of retail therapy related pics from my travels.

direct(transit): flying in style?

Sometimes when I see a celebrity pictured at an airport, I look at it in awe, doubt, confusion of how/why are they able to travel in the outfits that they are pictured in. I have certain rules when traveling...comfortable shoes, no jeans, very little jewelry, and I layer like crazy.  Granted, I don't have paparazzi following me or a private jet at my disposal to make a costume change easier, but is worth it for us commoners? I found some images of more comfortable and practical set....for the most part.

idle(prattle): fanny pack

Me and a friend were waiting to pick up our food and decided to browse a vintage store a block away. Poking around in the baubles and scarves I felt uninspired until I saw the metallic. mesh. fanny. pack. Yes, I said fanny pack. Hearing my audible gasp, she came around the corner to find me,

HER: Where are you going to wear that??
ME: It is black, silver, gold and bronze. Where can't I wear it!?!

I cannot wait to sport my new fanny pack or the more fashionable term -- waist bag. I threw it on to take a photo, but I'll try to remember to take another one with a better outfit built around it. Perhaps a combination of metallics.
